Mark qualified as a teacher in the United Kingdom during 2014, and has more than 10 years’ experience teaching in England and South East Asia. His teaching experience includes teaching in several Thai universities, Laotian international schools, Thai private schools and English state schools. Before becoming a qualified teacher,
he was an accountant for nearly 25 years.
He is passionate about sharing his knowledge and ensuring students have the opportunity to reach their full potential. He is also committed to providing personalised, and engaging tuition, that meets the unique needs of each student. He is currently reading Economics for a Doctorate in Philosophy and provides continuing academic support to PELA.
Teacher
(English Language)
Catherine is an experienced teacher who had earlier specialised in teaching English to younger students, either individually or as part of a group. As a mother,
she understands the way that individual children require different forms of communication and teaching techniques to learn. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and her time in Laos has seen her work with a number of students on the ‘autism rating scale’.
Her natural love and empathy for children have assisted in these students reaching their learning potential, with the provision of varied interactive lessons. However,
she is also experienced in teaching more mature students who require English for their business needs as well as initially coming from a business background herself.

(French Language)
Genevieve has more than 20 years of teaching experience with all ages. She has also undertaken oral translation and written Modern French text translation work, specialising in medicine and administration.
As a native French speaker, with a mixed French and Laotian ancestry, she holds the BACHELOR FLE (Français Langue Etrangère) and is academically qualified to teach the French language to both Laotians and non-Laotians.

(Chinese Language)
Kai is originally from Dandong in China's Liaoning Province. He graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science and Technology in 2006. He has lived in Laos for over ten years and is married to a Laotian national. He is fluent in both the Chinese and the Laotian languages, as well as being proficient in English at a conversational level.
For the past three years, Kai has been dedicated to teaching Chinese to adult learners, offering structured and personalised instruction. He specialises in
face-to-face learning environments, emphasising practical communication and cultural context to help students gain confidence and fluency.
With a strong cross-cultural background and a passion for education, Kai provides an engaging and authentic Chinese language learning experience.

As a fortunate first-time career shifter, he has consistently secured roles with reputable, Western-owned multinational companies. next-generation customer experience (BPO-CX) solutions, recently recognised on the Fortune 500 list in 2025. Karl is known for anticipating challenges before they occur and delivering timely, effective resolutions that support seamless digital operations.
